#153 | Applying for Jobs The Right Way With Allison Peck

Applying for jobs in today’s market is a bit like the wild wild west. Technology is changing EVERYTHING and we’re not even sure what the rules are at this point. Is AI reading our resume’s before real humans? Most likely. Are we getting automated emails when getting rejection notices? Probably.

This is why I thought Allison Peck, AKA Allifromcorporate, was the perfect person to have on to help us debunk the job searching myths of todays world and lend us a few pointers about how to apply the right way.

We dove into AI and Alli shared a very “if you can’t beat them join them” attitude toward technology. From brilliant tips for using ChatGPT to prompt you for what interview questions you should be prepared for, what content to put out on LinkedIn and even using it to copy and paste the job description and craft a resume AI it will actually read.

She shared a few tips for folks who are in need of a job (like yesterday!) and how staffing agencies can help you land the right opportunity quickly! She had suggestions for Senior Professionals who may feel concerned about being discriminated against because of age and how to own your expertise when applying to new jobs. What words to say and what words to avoid. We spoke about what to do if you don’t have an official degree and how to start setting boundaries early on at work.
