Sending exceptional emails might not seem like a top priority at work but when I tell you people have feelings about emails, I’m telling you people have FEELINGS about emails. Email etiquette and strategy is a real thing and after this week’s conversation it’s something I know I plan to spend a bit more time focusing on. We had a booming comment section about common email pet peeves and Daisy Lovelace was the perfect guest to help us tackle each gripe with a solid plan.
Daisy shared two very simple tips for keeping your emails concise and enjoyable for your audience:
We spoke about how email is really just a never ending to do list and the simpler you make it for your recipient the more likely they will complete what it is you need. I shared my biggest gripe being no phone number in the signature and we talked about whether emojis are a good idea or not.
As a rule of thumb Daisy recommends not sending an email that you wouldn’t want plastered on the morning news and to never write an email when you’re angry. This is a great episode to share with your team if you’d like your inbox a bit clearer and cleaner!
