Navigating change at work can feel exhausting. New goals, new resolutions, new work projects brings excitement…and chaos. While new routines, new software’s & new updates are awesome getting your team on board with them can feel like swimming upstream.
That’s why we tapped in organizational psychologist Erin Shrimpton to help us guide our teams (and ourselves!) through these big changes. Our brains love consistency and Erin shared tips on how we can trick our brain into welcoming new ideas and ways of doing things instead of pushing them away (always our first instinct!). I loved her advice about switching up our scenery and how she makes notes using the voice app on her phone while on walks so she can hear what it sounds like talking back to her (especially helpful for course building and keynote speaking!).
She shared quick ways we can dip into flow state and how to craft an ideal day to day cadence that works for you and your energy levels. Her advice on finding purpose in your work – no matter what the work is was a favorite of mine! My favorite tip from Erin was at the very end (I loved her homework assignment!) but I’m curious to see which piece of advice really hits home for you!
