#169 | Mini-Workshop: Creating Content On LinkedIn

Creating content on LinkedIn might sound intimidating. LinkedIn feels like the serious uncle of social media. You know the one who comes to Thanksgiving and only talks about politics and business vs tiktok or instagram that feels a little more lighthearted and fun. LinkedIn doesn’t have to be intimidating I promise. In this mini-workshop, we broke down some easy ways to step up your LinkedIn game.

Where to start when posting on LinkedIn

1. Capture your ideas right away: Think of content creation as muscle memory, like learning a new skill. The more you practice, the easier it gets. Start by jotting down ideas whenever they come to you, even if it’s while grocery shopping! Use tools like Google Docs, Notion, or your phone’s notes app to capture them. Worry less about making a perfect post right there just write down your thoughts and refine them later.
2. Keep the focus on your audience: When creating content, the goal is to offer value, don’t make it all about you. Share key takeaways from a book you’re reading (bonus points if you post a picture with it) or lessons learned from a recent event, podcast, audiobook, etc. Make your posts helpful and relatable so others can take something away from them. I always think “If someone read this could they share it with a friend later and it be helpful to them both?”
3. Tips for getting engagement: Treat your posts like conversations. Ask questions, prompt interactions, and make it easy for others to contribute. Use phrases like “agree or disagree?” to invite different viewpoints and here’s the trick actually read and thoughtfully respond to the comments. Remember, it’s not just about impressions; it’s about building a dialogue and community around your content.

I’ve loved the community that I have on LinkedIn. It’s a big part because of this show that LinkedIn is such a fun place for me to hang out.
