LinkedIn feels weird right now. Between AI-generated content, endless algorithm advice, and the pressure to constantly be posting, it’s easy to wonder whether anyone is even paying attention. But I still believe LinkedIn is one of the best places to build relationships, share ideas, and create opportunities you never see coming. I’ve been talking about the power of LinkedIn for years, and despite all the changes, one thing hasn’t changed: showing up consistently matters more than trying to game the system.
One of the most common questions I hear is, “What should I post on LinkedIn?” The truth is, most people don’t struggle because they lack ideas. They struggle because they’re overthinking them. They assume every post needs to be polished, insightful, and worthy of going viral. In reality, some of the most meaningful content comes from everyday experiences, conversations, observations, and lessons learned. The goal isn’t to have a groundbreaking idea every week. It’s to share your perspective in a way that helps someone else.
People forget is that LinkedIn is supposed to be social. Yes, posting matters, but so does participating. Some of the best connections I’ve made started with a comment, a question, or a thoughtful response to someone else’s post. If creating content feels intimidating, start by engaging with the people already showing up in your feed. Building a presence isn’t just about broadcasting your ideas, it’s about being part of the conversation.
Everyone wants to know the perfect time to post or the ideal content format, I think we’re asking the wrong questions. Whether you prefer writing posts, sharing videos, creating newsletters, or commenting on industry news, the format matters far less than the value you’re providing. The people who stand out are the ones who consistently share ideas, stories, and experiences that make others think, learn, or feel less alone.
There’s a ripple effect that happens when you consistently share what you’re learning, thinking about, and experiencing. You may never know who’s reading, who’s paying attention, or which opportunity is around the corner. But time and time again, I’ve seen simple acts of showing up lead to meaningful connections, conversations, and career growth.
