#166 | Ask Me Anything: LinkedIn Profile Edition

LinkedIn will change what comes up when someone googles you. (and if you don’t think people are googling you I’ve got news for you). Your LinkedIn profile will be most people’s first impression of you and I want to make sure it’s a good one, because let’s be honest, you have a lot to offer! This episode was just us (The Coffee With Kim Crew and me) going through some of the newest features from LinkedIn, giving each other feedback and asking questions together as a group.

Three new LinkedIn features you can start using today:

1. Custom link feature – Most social media algorithms hate outside links and try to squash posts that have them. The idea is they want you to stay on the social site and not click away. LinkedIn has offered a space where you can link what you care about or want to promote directly on your profile for all to see (think link to your business website, Calendly to schedule a call, etc).It’s an easy way to drive traffic to your website or showcase your latest project.
2. “Catch up” in the “my network” area – This addition makes it easier to keep tabs on your connections’ updates like job changes, work anniversaries, or birthdays. This will help you stay engaged with your network and acknowledge things that others might overlook! I’ve already used it several times to congratulate or check in with someone I haven’t talked to recently and I’ve loved it!
3. The Services Section – It’s easier than ever to market your services on your LinkedIn profile and I’m SO excited about this latest update. You can see what this looks like here on my profile or even here on my producer, Shelby’s page. When someone clicks into your service it will bring them to a page that looks like this. I love this because I can review requests and send proposals from LinkedIn!

Bonus tip: Make sure to use LinkedIn’s pronunciation feature so people can easily learn how to say your name correctly. It’s a small detail that alleviates a LOT of anxiety from people like me who want to say your name correctly but we’re unsure how.
