Change is part of life and a career. Did you know that most people change their career 5-7 times?! Career transitions don’t have to be painful and they can be like adding a dash of excitement to your professional path to keep things interesting and challenging in the best way.
In this episode we dove into how to tell if you need a career change or if you’re burnout and need a good ole fashion break. The worst thing to do is quit your job only to realize it wasn’t the job that was overwhelming you. Trust your instincts and be very self aware while you consider jumping ship.
Doing your homework is the first step to deciding whether or not a new career is a good idea. The best way to find out if a new industry is a good fit for you? Talk to someone in the industry! Like a real life person… no amount of googling will get you this kind of insight. Here are the questions I recommend for a 15 minute interview:
Remember 15 minutes is all you get. Don’t go over! Which leads me to my biggest mistake I see when people go to make a career transition: not being financially ready. Don’t let the internet fool you, there are lots of things happening behind the scene’s and no one posts their whole life story so if you think “oh well so and so did it, I saw on their Instagram that…” be very careful! You never know the whole story!
