Building resilience is an important skill to build BEFORE the hard times hit. It’s like buying a winter coat before the storm. As a business owner I can tell you it’s not if but when the hard times come how are you going to show up? How are you going to interact with your team?
I loved the way Gemma approached this conversation because it was so obvious she’s walked the talk. She shared with us the importance of having multiple tools in our resilient tool box and how as our career changes and we grow as a human different things will work at different times.
One of my favorite analogies she gave was viewing our emotions as rowdy bus passengers. Their time will come for them to exit the bus but sometimes they drive you crazy while they’re here. Her homework assignment for us this week? Notice something that makes you stop and appreciate in awe. Whether it’s a tall building or a beautiful plant taking time to appreciate something awesome will wire your brain for gratitude.
