There are decisions to be made around every corner and in every role in your life. It’s exhausting and can bring about a lot of unnecessary conflict and fatigue. Which is why I loved Cheryl’s latest LinkedIn course about how to implement AI in both these low stakes and high stake decisions.
Cheryl has written three books about how to make good decisions which is why I knew she’d be a great guest on the show. She shared a few questions to ask ourselves when getting input from others, like: “Who owns this decision?” and “Who will be impacted by my choice”
Her AREA method is a really easy framework to help us think through the steps of the decision and making sure we’re not missing something when making a well thought out decision. She shared some really cool ways to implement AI, not so that the technology will make the decision for you, but so you can see the blindspots you may have or hear the things that others may feel uncomfortable telling you about the choice you’re making. She shared the biggest mistake people make in decisions is assuming research and analysis are the same thing and walked us through the difference between the two.
We wrapped things up with some tips for people who may be indecisive and I loved how Cheryl talked us through the different types of problem solvers and how being indecisive might just mean that you’re more careful than other types and that it has it’s strengths as well. If you’re looking for a way to get better as we close at the year I highly recommend listening to this conversation and letting us know your thoughts in the comments!
