Alex, Founder and CEO of Impaxs Marketing, is the go to authority for content creation and social selling for clients ranging from billion dollar companies to soloprenuers. From Alex’s experience working with clients he discovered two major roadblocks most face when sharing content. One, figuring out what and how to share, and two, fearing our efforts will be judged or rejected. His response: Go for it anyway.
“Sometimes content won’t perform as well as you thought or someone won’t agree with what you say. Let that discomfort stretch you. If you stay in your comfort zone, you won’t get to the next level.”
He also shared actionable steps like focusing on measurables (i.e. how many times you post and engage with others), recording and making videos even if you don’t share them, and dedicating time to practice to help build confidence in creating and sharing content. Wanting perfect results has admittedly held me back from posting. Sometimes I worry so much about the lighting, my appearance, or my script that I find all the time I allotted for recording is up before I’ve even started! I was curious to get Alex’s take on finding the balance between creating quality content and posting consistently.
“Part of getting to quality is quantity. You have to put in reps to get good at anything from learning Spanish to playing an instrument. And remember, less is more! Social media has trained us to consume information in short form, so do your best to share info in bite-size pieces.
Repurposing content is the secret sauce to success when it comes to sharing. Alex says the key is knowing what works well on each platform. For example, fast, entertaining videos are best for Tik Tok, educational content thrives on LinkedIn, and casual, fun, storytelling videos excel on Instagram.
Pro tip: Don’t feel pressured to produce on every social media channel. Get good at one or two platforms you know your audience is on, build your skills and expand from there.
We get it. Balancing work and home life is hard enough, so adding content creation to the mix may feel like too much. According to Alex, it doesn’t have to be as time consuming as you think.
He says setting aside one hour a month to work through twenty ideas that you can turn into video and written content is all you need.
“[In just one hour] you’ll have content for potentially one to two months in addition to your day to day vlogs. If you stick to this schedule there’s no reason you can’t do it,” he shared.
Having a clear process, system, and routine is sure to help you remain consistent.
