Since I started our weekly Wednesday meeting, I’ve been guessing. Guessing at what would be helpful, interesting and hopefully a bit of fun for us.
I’ve realized no matter how old I get or how much success I have one thing is always constant – it’s hard to ask for help. Sure, I’m getting better at it but boy does it take work. So here I am asking you for your insights and about four minutes of time (yes, I timed myself).
If I could get your brain power on this form I would be forever grateful. In fact, consider it an IOU for a high five or piggy back ride. Dealers choice! I want to make our meetings useful for all of us and to do that, we need to shape this TOGETHER. I’m excited to hear what topics you think we should be covering. I should note that all the questions are anonymous so feel free to really go to town on your opinion!
We’ve had eight guests so far: a VC, an etiquette expert, a fitness founder, an editor-in-chief – the list goes on and it’s only going to get better!
But…once again (are we sensing a pattern here friends?) I NEED YOUR HELP!
Do you know someone awesome?! Or do you have an idea of your dream coffee date? For me it’s Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, but who is it for you?! Let me know in this form so I can curate who joins us. No promises, but I’m going to do my best. Deal?
I’m all about this being a two way street. In fact, a few weeks ago I received an email from Armando Sanchez. An amazing teacher at Greenville International School in Mexico who’s class I had spoken with a few weeks before. This is an excerpt of his email to me:
As a sports fan, is it ok if I suggest more sport-related people in your show? Maybe coaches, players, agents, etc. Or maybe unknown heroes (like the chief of police or the Head of a fire station, doctors and nurses, marines, teachers, etc) that are also highly productive and no one is giving them time to share their experience.
I read his email and thought “I know just the guy!” Now, Luke Reissman from the PGA of America is coming to join us on Sept 2nd! (RSVP! It’ll be amazing!) As you can see I take real time feedback from you and act on it. But you have to fill me in first. What’s on your mind!?
Have you ever bought a kid a present and been disappointed by their reaction?
You work so hard to get the perfect present with all the bells and whistles. The must-have gift you’ve found does it all: it whizzes, beeps, buzzes or has built in laser sounds. You are proud of your excellent purchase but are heartbroken as you look over a few minutes later to see they are excitedly playing with…the cardboard box. Not the cool toy but the big boring oversized cardboard box that they are now pretending is a spaceship. You laugh to yourself thinking, “I should have bought them a $2 cardboard box instead of a $25 toy!”
A real life example of this played out and it’s going VIRAL!
The Pittsburgh Pirates aced this marketing move with simple, killer instincts. The move sounds too simple to go viral but back to the cardboard box example sometimes it’s the simple stuff that goes the farthest!

While I was browsing the internet last week, I stumbled on a website that summarizes every big-ticket class that’s on Masterclass. While a normal Masterclass subscription is $180 this site breaks down the learnings in a cliff notes style fashion. I’m a big fan of paying for learning (I spend at least $3,000 annually on classes and teachings!) but if you want a sample of what you’re going to get before you buy check out Master Wiki.
Unless you are Hermione from Harry Potter and donning a magic necklace you cannot, in fact, change time. You also can’t buy, barter or make more of it. Since time is our most valuable resource if there’s an app to save me more of it I AM IN!
Grammarly – I have the free version but my friend Kendall has been raving about Grammarly Pro. She said it’s been saving her lately when it comes to writing emails, social posts, and blogs like this! I’m going to give it a go – I’ll report back!
MixMax – is an amazing email plugin that saves me from sending the dreaded, “Did you get my email?” or “Did you get a chance to review the proposal?” Using MixMax, I can see if people have opened my email or attachments. I can see when they opened it, where they opened it and how they read it (mobile vs. desktop). I’ve been using it for about a year and it’s safe to say, I’m a superfan!
I can’t wait to read your feedback and start implementing it soon.
Next week: We have my friend Patrick Ambron from BrandYourself.com. He’s a Shark Tank and Dragons Den alum who has been honored by the White House and Inc. Magazine. He’s full of helpful tips and tricks to help us master our online presence.
See you there! // RSVP
