Ever been asked to “Hop on quick call” from a complete stranger? I fell for it the first few times and ended up in sales pitches or “pick my brain” conversations. I found that time, my most valuable resource, wasn’t being spent wisely. So I started a practice of guarding my time. I do that ”adding an assignment” before getting on a call. I ask them to read a book or listen to a podcast before we hop on call and guess what? Most people don’t do it! Most people won’t complete the assignment. It filters out those who aren’t as serious and it protects my precious time. It also makes meetings more valuable. We dive right into the good stuff and don’t spend time on shallow “get to know you” things.
I have to keep my time guarded to stay productive and on track. As an entrepreneur one of the hardest periods I’ve had of staying productive was leading up to my appearance on Shark Tank. Did you know I was on Shark Tank? It was Season 5. When you’re on Shark Tank they make you sign a VERY long NDA. So here I was with this extra work load and I could not tell anyone why I was so overwhelmed. It was hard!
Right the majority of us are STILL working from home. I wrote down my top 5 productivity hacks that have helped me stay on track here if you’re interested.
Speaking of productivity, Whitney recommended Monday.com on our Coffee With Kim a couple weeks ago. I’ve been using it this week and I love it! It helps me keep track of each task I’m working on and keep all my thoughts in one place. Please keep showing up and letting me know what you’re using because I do use and love your suggestions!
Last week we talked about nicklpass.com which was my new favorite find for getting GOOD news. This week I starting using a new service called Community! It’s an app that lets us text back and forth. Yep, so we can chat and share things and I can get your opinion without having to wait until Wednesday’s! My number is 1 (646) 585-7291. All you have to do is add me to your address book and then I will (legally!) be allowed to text you back. Shoot me a text and let’s stay connected because I know not every Wednesday you’ll be available for our meeting!
Here’s the link to add next week’s meeting to your calendar. I really love seeing you there and can’t wait to hear what you’ve tackled this week.
