#98 | Livestreaming Secrets With Shelby & Kim

My secret to gaining 10,000 new followers on LinkedIn? Live streaming each week! What started as a fun experiment during quarantine has led to a full-blown podcast filled with big business opportunities & a network I could have never dreamed of. This week I’m sitting down with my producer Shelby Merryweather for a peek behind the podcast we built from the ground up. We talk about everything from software to the systems we created to build a consistent, successful live format. What used to take 15+ hours a week has been streamlined to less than 5 and we can’t wait to share our tips and tricks for you to do the same!

Top 3 Takeaways from Our Conversation:

• Turn on Creator Mode: You’ve heard me say it 100 times but in order to stream on LinkedIn you HAVE to have Creator Mode turned on & 150 followers. Sorry folks it’s the only way. If you’ve been dragging your feet about it block off 30 minutes in your calendar, pull up this tutorial & get it done. I promise it’s worth that 30 minutes to gain access to these features plus you’ll be getting a lot more visibility on LinkedIn. If you’ve already turned this on, gold star for you!

• The Livestreaming Studio: So LinkedIn is a little different than other social media platforms. Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook you just log on and hit “go live”. LinkedIn requires a third party tool that will stream to your profile. There’s good news & bad news on this. Bad news: you have to learn a whole new software. Good news: The platform we use, Streamyard, is SUPER user friendly and allows for you to brand your livestream easily so you look much more professional on LinkedIn than you would on an instagram live. • Tech Set Up: One of the most common questions I get asked is “what camera do you use” or “what mic works best for livestreaming”? Shelby & I have compiled an entire list for you on Amazon so you can skip the research / trial & error fun that we went through.
