If you’ve ever wanted to host a Linkedin Live, now is your time! When the platform announced everyone had access to the feature I was inundated with questions on how to get started.
In this week’s Coffee With Kim, I’ll answer them all!
For my guest, I brought none other than the woman behind the magic, my assistant, Shelby Merryweather. Together we’re lifting the curtain on all the moving parts and sharing exactly what you need before, during, and after your live show to be successful.
Success on social media requires consistency, authenticity, and original content. On LinkedIn, live shows are the easiest way to give all three at once. You’re able to form connections and build trust with your audience by interacting in real time.
Plus, unlike regular posts, your tone won’t get lost in translation and your lives are available to everyone in the LinkedIn universe – it’s a great way to make new connections!
Pro tip: Eliminate the nerves with the Ultimate On-Camera Starter Kit.
Before hopping in front of the camera for a LinkedIn Live session you must have three things:
Many people tell me they hesitate to go live because they don’t know what to talk about.
Shelby has the perfect solution.
“Share your expertise, your industry predictions, or highlight a guest. You can also share what you’re working on or answer frequently asked questions. Tell your audience something they don’t know or make things easier for them to understand. Overall, provide value.”
Providing value is key to keeping your audience engaged and coming back for more!
Shelby and I used to spend 10+ hours a week prepping for Coffee With Kim! After 75 shows here’s what we learned:

Days of content can come from one LinkedIn Live session!
Long posts to continue the convo with subtopics on your page and in the comments. Short video clips share exciting or insightful moments. And quotes make for great tweets and captions for posts on all platforms.
Maximize your content efforts by sharing info from a live you attended. You’ll introduce your connections to someone new and add value.
As you build your following, remember numbers matter but not as much as having the right people. It’s better to have 50 super engaged people than 600+ people that aren’t your target audience.
Being consistent will help the right people show up. Always invite and remind connections of your upcoming live! Keep the conversation going after the session in your DMs and posts.
You could spend 10+ hours a week learning how to do this on your own or you could use a fast pass. – Trust me the latter is the way to go!
